Beneath the Lies by Riann C. Miller is the first book in a two book series but can be read as a standalone.
When Kate’s parents pass away, she moves out to California to stay with whom she thinks is a family friend. The longer she is there though, the more things aren’t adding up. She is very trusting thought and doesn’t want to believe what others are telling her.
While out with friends she meets Gavin, the son of the woman she is staying with. She is attracted to him and they soon begin a relationship together.
The problem is, they both have pasts that are catching up with them, and enemies that will stop at nothing to get what they want.
I found a copy of this book on my kindle and decided to give it a read! I was immediately drawn in and couldn’t put it down until I had finished it! There is so much going on in this book and I needed to know how everything was going to turn out.
Kate was extremely sheltered and naive to the extreme. While Gavin was the complete opposite. But it worked for them.
My copy of this book had a lot of editing mistakes but I’m sure it wasn’t a final draft and it in no way took away from the story.
I’m looking forward to seeing what happens in the next book!
