My Review:

Rating: 3 Stars ✰✰✰

Grit by J.M Walker is the first book in her King’s Harlots MC Series. Worlds collide in this biker meets military romance.

I love books that have a strong female lead in them and you don’t get much more badass then a female biker club.

Jay isn’t the type of woman to be told she can’t do something. When she was warned that an all female MC would never make it, she had to prove them wrong. Being the president of the King’s Harlots means constantly putting on a strong front and lately Jay isn’t feeling so strong.

Then Angel walks into her life. Construction business owner by day, Seal by night. He is starting to feel that there is something missing. Then he finds Jay and everything changes. That man likes to give orders and Jay just loves to submit to him. It made for some H-O-T love scenes!

There is a string of women going missing and Jay and Angel join forces to find the missing women and Jay’s twin sister who was taken over 2 years ago.

As I said earlier, I love a strong female lead. So I was excited when I learned that this was about a female biker club. Jay and her girls kind of had a revolving door or strength and weaknesses. They didn’t posses quite the “grit” that I was expecting in tough biker chicks. Having said that though, the girls were completely relatable. Under the circumstances of the story, I could understand why they would eventually show weakness.

The writing in the story was both good and bad. What I mean by that is each individual sections was well written, but transitions between each scene were almost nonexistent which made the story not flow well in my opinion. There were also quite a few gaps in the storyline that left me with several questions.

Was the construction crew for real or was it just a front? If it was a front, what was the reason for them working on the club? Why was Tyler so worried about Jay looking into the missing women? Aside from talking about the missing women and reading news articles on them, what exactly was the club doing to find the missing women?

I may not have found the answer to most of my questions by the end of the book, but I have to say that sticking it out to the end was pretty well worth it. The action in the end of the book was intense and I was honestly surprised by who the bad guy really was. Also I know the storyline continues through the next books in the series so there is a good chance that my questions might be answered then.

 Review:

Rating: 5 Stars ✰✰✰✰✰

Keeping Meg is the 6th book in the Devil’s Knights Series by Winter Travers. Lucky for me it can be read as a stand alone.

Meg is a 37 year old woman with an almost grown son. She has been married before to a man who just didn’t get her and the marriage ended poorly. That is why she can’t believe the turn her life has taken in the last year. She is now planning her wedding to the gorgeous Lo, otherwise known as Logan Birch, otherwise known as King, leader of the Devil’s knights. He is the man of her dreams, almost to good to be true. A lot has changed and she is having a hard time keeping up with it all. Old insecurities keep bubbling up at the most inconvenient times, causing her to question it all.

King, or Lo as Meg calls him, feels like he is the luckiest man in the world. He is president of the Devil’s Knights and he has finally found the woman of his dreams and persuaded her to marry him. His club and his life are headed in a direction that he never dreamed it would. Now all he has to do is keep them both.

The Assassins are threatening all the King holds dear. He wants Meg to lead a normal life and he doesn’t want club business taking that away from her. But will his secret’s threaten his relationship with Meg?

All I can say about this book is that every woman needs a little Lo in their life. He may be a little rough around the edges, but he knows just what to say to make a woman feel good. He never lets Meg get to far into her head. Talk about H-O-T hot! Wow! Meg has a few demons to work out. She has a tendency to second guess herself, but who wouldn’t after having a man that was supposed to love you constantly taring you down? Thankfully she has a great group of friends and Lo to help her get passed it.

I enjoyed reading this book. There was just enough talk about things that must have happened in the previous books, to make me want to grab them up and read them as well. I’m looking forward to it. This was just a nice book about a woman and a man navigating their way through a relationship. It was a nice easy read, nothing to heavy, and I highly recommend it.

Fabios Remorse

My Review:

Rating: 4 Stars ✰✰✰✰

Fabio’s Remorse by Aden Lowe is the 5 book in the Hell Raiders MC series. It can be read as a standalone novel though.

With just a few months left in his tour with the Army, Caleb gets a Dear John letter from his high school sweetheart. He couldn’t understand it. In her letter from just weeks before, she was still talking about plans for their upcoming wedding.

What Caleb doesn’t realize is that Justine is had her reasons. After being assaulted, she is living in her own misery. She feels that everything has been taken away from her. She is living in constant fear and her attackers are keeping that way on purpose.

As Caleb is transitioning from soldier to suvillian, he gets involved with the Hell Raiders MC. He earns the nickname Fabio and the name sticks.

When tragedy strikes, Fabio is forced back to his hometown and to Justine.

It was interesting to see how Fabio and Justine change throughout the book.

When Caleb get’s Justine’s letter, he just shuts down. He has questions, but instead of facing her and asking, he runs. The things he does while he’s serving in the war also have an effect on him as a person. He becomes a loner and withdrawn with the exception of his dog.

When he meets the MC, it gives him a chance to become part of a brotherhood. He has a place with them, and they don’t ask to many questions. Becoming Fabio gives him a chance at a new life.

Justine couldn’t face Caleb after the attack. She suffers in silence like so many women do after they have been assaulted. She becomes withdrawn and afraid of everything. Her friends and family don’t understand. It takes a toll on her.

I loved watching them both learn to trust again.

This book tells a story of what women can go through after being raped and assaulted. It’s a pretty heavy subject, but it was written very well. It also touches on PTSD in soldiers and victims. As hard as it can be to read, it is necessary. Great book!

Doc's Ember

Title: Doc’s Ember

Series: Devil’s Iron MC Book 4

Author: GM Scherbert

Genre: MC/Erotica/Romance

Release Date: June 18, 2016

Doc's Ember

Synopsis:

~Doc
When Ember walked out on me I was ready to be put to ground. I barely gave a f*ck what happened to me before, but after she left, I didn’t care at all. The brothers always knew me as a hard ass with no feelings, which only got worse after she left.
The night I ran into her at the Dungeon, those feelings of pain, love, and lust returned in an instant. Then I found out about our son, and the pain I had been living with for the past five years blew up, with no one to blame but her.
When I find out the truth of why she left, no one will be safe.

~Ember
I thought that what we shared was in the past, leaving me with the most precious of gifts, my baby boy, Vincent. I came back to be closer to my father and thought that no one would notice I was back.
I was wrong.
As soon as I saw Doc again, all the feelings from the past came rushing back, I lost my heart to him on the spot, for the second time in my life. He is so angry and upset with me for leaving, but I had my reasons, and he will never get an apology from me for that.
When he finds out the truth, no one will be safe from him.
Not even me.

Doc's Ember

Review:

Rating: 4 Stars ✰✰✰✰

Doc’s Ember by GM Scherbert is the fourth book in the Devil’s Iron MC Series. It can be read as a standalone without too much confusion, however, much of the book takes place during book 3 Pearl’s Awakening, so you might want to read the other books to get a better picture of what is going on.

I think this is one of the better books by GM Scherbert that I have read. Her writing technique is growing as she is putting out more books. In this book, she takes us back to the beginning when Doc and Ember first meet 5 years earlier. We learn how they met, and what actually happened to Ember while Doc was away those years ago. I found it interesting that Clutch was also the reason Doc was gone at the time that Ember was attacked. She did a very good job tying all the characters in and transitioning us from the past to the present. It was interesting getting to see details from Pearl’s Journey from Ember’s point of view.

One of the things that I like about all of the books in this series is that the relationships aren’t necessarily typical. I’m not talking about the fact that they are motorcycle club members or the fact that they practice BDSM. I’m talking about how they break free from the stereotypes of age and gender. Doc is several years older then Ember in this book just like Pearl was older then Tank and Blaze. This is just one example.

I loved how Doc encouraged Ember to better herself by getting a job and going back to school. I also loved how Ember was strong enough to not only survive all those years on her own with a kid, but even took Doc’s advice and finished school so she could have a better life for herself and her son.

Good book!
