He was born alone and he will die alone. Or, at least he thought so until now.

Vice-One is all he knows. His squad. His brothers. The men he spends every day protecting. He is empty and only one person can fill this void. This darkness.

Meanwhile, Genevieve Gold makes it clear he should stay away when she is everything he craves.

She is lost.

Her heart has been ripped out; stomped on…crushed into tiny pieces, leaving only a gaping hole behind.

King’s Harlots is all she has. Her club. Her sisters. Her life. But something is missing until he shows up.

Angel Rodriguez is everything she hates but everything she needs.

Putting differences aside, they will work together to bring down a malevolent force threatening to rip them apart…

My Review:

Rating: 3 Stars ✰✰✰

Grit by J.M Walker is the first book in her King’s Harlots MC Series. Worlds collide in this biker meets military romance.

I love books that have a strong female lead in them and you don’t get much more badass then a female biker club.

Jay isn’t the type of woman to be told she can’t do something. When she was warned that an all female MC would never make it, she had to prove them wrong. Being the president of the King’s Harlots means constantly putting on a strong front and lately Jay isn’t feeling so strong.

Then Angel walks into her life. Construction business owner by day, Seal by night. He is starting to feel that there is something missing. Then he finds Jay and everything changes. That man likes to give orders and Jay just loves to submit to him. It made for some H-O-T love scenes!

There is a string of women going missing and Jay and Angel join forces to find the missing women and Jay’s twin sister who was taken over 2 years ago.

As I said earlier, I love a strong female lead. So I was excited when I learned that this was about a female biker club. Jay and her girls kind of had a revolving door or strength and weaknesses. They didn’t posses quite the “grit” that I was expecting in tough biker chicks. Having said that though, the girls were completely relatable. Under the circumstances of the story, I could understand why they would eventually show weakness.

The writing in the story was both good and bad. What I mean by that is each individual sections was well written, but transitions between each scene were almost nonexistent which made the story not flow well in my opinion. There were also quite a few gaps in the storyline that left me with several questions.

Was the construction crew for real or was it just a front? If it was a front, what was the reason for them working on the club? Why was Tyler so worried about Jay looking into the missing women? Aside from talking about the missing women and reading news articles on them, what exactly was the club doing to find the missing women?

I may not have found the answer to most of my questions by the end of the book, but I have to say that sticking it out to the end was pretty well worth it. The action in the end of the book was intense and I was honestly surprised by who the bad guy really was. Also I know the storyline continues through the next books in the series so there is a good chance that my questions might be answered then.
